Dear Reader,
Spring has sprung, and my, doesn’t everyone look sprightly? We at the club are thrilled to see the reappearance of linen being worn by many of our members (please note that linen blends are forbidden on the courts), as well as the great feedback regarding our latest addition to The Pink Bar: The Oystertini. We would also like to warmly welcome all of our newest members who have found their way over from one of the many overrun Caring clubs – we promise our vetting process is far more thorough. Anyway, in today’s issue, we will be talking about what is happening this season at the club, as well as some of our current favourites in film, fashion, and self-care.
This is also a reminder that our April Book Club is underway and that you can find all of the details here.
The Club Shop
Want to know what is coming to The Club Shop in the near future? Well, look no further.
The latest offering to The Rhubarb Society Shop, our Court Cap, sold out of pre-orders in the first 48 hours. However, after pulling a few strings and promising Iris an extra five days of annual leave, we have managed to add an additional number of caps to the pre-order. If you missed out the first time round and would like to pre-order our cap, you can do so here or using the button below.
Fear not; your caps won’t be lonely, as the below are coming to the shop in due course (for both you and your canine companions).
The Sporting Knit – A jumper inspired by the school’s 1st XV, our Sporting Knit is a creamy 100% cotton cable knit jumper with the Society Stripes on the cuffs and the v-neck. Best layered with a crisp cotton shirt or a polo.
The Canine Sporting Knit – Here at the club, we prioritise our dog’s sartorial choices just as much as our own, so we had to make a matching jumper for your canine companion. The only difference? This jumper includes an embroidered patch of ‘Wimbledon Rhubarb’ on the back.
The Rhubarb Jumper – A 100% cotton knitted jumper using an intarsia technique, The Rhubarb jumper will feature one of our favourite Society illustrations across the front. You can register your interest here.
The Daily Sock – A thick crew sock featuring Society Stripes and an embroidered Rhubarb. Best worn pulled up with pride.
TRS Embroidered Patches – A selection of your favourite Society Rhubarb illustrations, embroidered and easy to iron on to anything your heart desires.
TRS Poo Bags – Let every dog and owner know that you are a member of a club that takes care of you from head to tail with our pink (and lavender-scented) poo bags adorned with illustrated Rhubarbs. Our poo bags are also made from recycled materials, and a percentage of each sale will be donated to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.
The Wimbledon Rhubarb Cap – Many members have asked for a restock of our first-ever cap, and we thought this would be a great time for a redesign. While all of the details will be the same, the new Wimbledon Rhubarb cap will come in green corduroy (light corduroy, of course, for the summer) with an embroidered Rhubarb on the front and additional embroidery on the back.
As always, Private members will receive first looks and priority ordering for all items in our Club Shop (including events).
Club Favourites
If our April Menu hasn’t provided you with enough inspiration for the month, look no further – here is a hit list of current reviews and recommendations suitable for all our members.
Challengers – An unexpectedly funny, sexy, electric film that serves more than the trailers let on. The three leads match each other perfectly in some career-best performances, and the pacing makes watching feel like an incredibly short 2 hours. Challengers is a must-see, so be sure to add to your diaries for April 26th.
Ripley – It’s brave to remake a TV version of a film with cult status, but with Andrew Scott as your lead, it’s hard to go wrong. Ripley is fantastic in its own right, and whilst the neo-noir style is a far cry from the sundrenched, pastel hues of the Jude Law version, it works perfectly with Scott’s more sinister take on who Ripley really is.
Skinceuticals Blemish & Age Defence Serum – Lighter evenings mean warmer days, and for those conscious of shinier (re, oilier) skin, this serum helps combat skin that finds itself particularly oily and blemish-prone during these months. If you don’t want to apply it to your whole face, it also works as an effective targeted spot treatment.
Holidermie Microbiotic Powder – As advised by our very chic Parisian lymphatic therapist, gut health should be a top priority if we want to feel and look our best. We were recommended these berry-flavoured powdered probiotics, which we take daily before breakfast and mix with 100ml of water.
LPM Tomatini – LPM is a French Mediterranean restaurant chain that can be found from Mayfair to Mykonos, and whilst the food is perfectly fine (albeit expensive), their Tomataini is worth going for alone. Somewhere between a dirty martini and a bloody mary, this cocktail is deliciously savoury and sweet, with a peppery bite that could almost be a convincing substitute for a starter. If you want to recreate at home, you can find the recipe here.
Oyster Earrings – Nothing says ‘Sunny Picnic’ or ‘Al-fresco Dinner Party’ like a pair of Oyster earrings. Made from beads, embroidery, and glass pearls, these are not only incredibly chic but a fantastic conversation starter.
Cream Linen Blend Jacket – Shirt style collar? Two patch pockets? Elasticated waistband? This jacket manages to combine safari and racquet sports in one.
Ortiz Sardines and Torres Fried Egg Crisps – These two things are certainly an acquired taste, but we cannot think of a better (or more bonkers) pairing for your homemade Tomatinis. Serve with Perello Olives, crusty bread and a decent chunk of salty All Things Butter for the ultimate Spring Girl Dinner.
This is also a reminder that if you are interested in joining us for our first in-person event in London, you can register your interest below.
